Bollywood is one of the biggest film industries in the world when it comes to number of movies produced and number of people employed. So it’s understandable that you want to make a trip to Bollywood part of your travel plan when you visit Mumbai, India.

However, there is a slight problem. Unlike Hollywood, there is no place called Bollywood. Bollywood is a term used to refer to Hindi Language Cinema. Before you get disappointed, the good news is that there are several ways to get to know Bollywood in Mumbai.

If you are new to Mumbai, taking a private or group tours of bollywood studios might be a good, although a little expensive, idea. Viator has some good Bollywood tours.

Other option is to visit Mumbai Film City. Official tours are pretty cheap. And if that is not enough, you can take a stroll around Bandra Bandstrand, where many Bollywood Superstars live. Crowds of people waiting outside their house, cheering for them, clicking pictures with their security guards – that’s the appeal and magic of Bollywood. And if you are star stuck, even Amitabh Bachchan comes out to see his fans every Sunday at 6 pm (when he is in town) outside his Juhu apartment.
